About Tom
I have been a Northern California resident since 1980, and have been employed as an anesthesiologist in Redding since 1995. Although I have been shooting pictures since I received my first camera as a high school graduation present (my Nepal pictures were shot using this camera when I was a Peace Corps Volunteer), over the years I have mostly recorded family and travel moments with point and shoot cameras. My interest in photography was re-kindled with the purchase of my first DSLR in 2011, but it was not until 2014, when I discovered the amazing processing power of Lightroom and Photoshop, that photography became my passion.
In 2015, I began entering local photography competitions and my awards to date are:
2015 Sundial Film Festival
Merit Award
2015 The Images from a Glass Eye, International Juried Photography Show
Honorable Mention
North Valley Art league 2016 Regional Photography Show
First Place
2016 Sundial Film Festival
Best of Show
My other hobbies and interests include adventure racing, orienteering, mountain and road biking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, backpacking, and fly fishing.
